Criminal Justice and the Center for Criminal Justice, Law and Ethics
One of the most intensely rewarding settings for living one’s faith and putting faith into action is the criminal justice system. Franciscan’s vision of criminal justice is completely unique due to its emphasis on the moral and ethical dimensions of criminal justice practice and its attentiveness to Catholic tradition and the foundational building blocks of natural law jurisprudence. These elements are unapologetically part of our intellectual journey.
Franciscan graduates of both the bachelor's and master's degree programs will enter a system under deep stress and human challenges -- a reality true for these practitioners, as well the populace they encounter on a day-to-day basis. Franciscan criminal justice graduates will bring light into the darkness and, most importantly, create a new cadre of justice leaders who understand the true nature of justice.
With the fall 2024 launch of the Master of Science in Criminal Justice Program and the department’s continuing education emphasis for the legal community through its Center for Criminal Justice, Law and Ethics, your support of this noble endeavor is deeply appreciated.
